I guess a good place to start is who, what, when, where and why.

The who is me, a 27 year old Irish girl- I don’t know if you can be a 27 year old girl, and not a woman-but let’s say I might be calling myself a 30 year old girl in the near future. Another pretty important point is that I’m Irish. So this is a fairly good blog to read if you’re wondering how an Irish person sees the world-and it’s not through the bottom of glass…for those you acquainted with the more roughly hewed caricatures of our nation.

But what could be more Irish than not being in Ireland? We love our country but love even more leaving it and judging how everyone else is running theirs. I live in Holland, the Netherlands the flat place, the low place, the place below sea level, the crowded place and most notably a place even smaller than my own country, so I regard finding it as a feat in itself.

I first set foot in on this sandy patch of the world on the 28th of December 2006. That feels like a very very long time ago. Alot has happened since then and now. All those details should provide enough fodder for when I have nothing else to talk about in this blog.  (Actually I’ll be using them for conversation for the rest of my life)

But I think went straight from the who to the where, and left out the what.

The what. This is a blog about me, running and all places running takes me. After a few months of trying to get a grip on all things Dutch, I realized I’d need a job,  and then life took a turn. I found a job with a sports company called ASICS. They have an office near the airport in Holland (sorry, but Netherlands while sounding rather more magical is just too long a word). ASICS is a nice place to work, I moan about Monday morning, but when I’m in, behind the desk, it’s a  good place to be.

So as you can see, running, running shoes, running clothes etc etc  play a pretty big part in my life. I read or hear about it all day, and I go home and run, mostly three times a week. How could moving slightly faster than walking mean so much ? Well I wonder about it too. But maybe you should keep reading.

Why.

Why this blog, and why running. The blog because running is the best thing in the world to get you to think and stop thinking. Depending on the day.Running either fills or empties my head, and this blog is a place to file the running thought reports.

I’ll hope to put in other stuff about races and so forth but let’s just see how we go.

I don’t like lines, saying what is in and what is out, which is why I like that running only has two, the start and the finish.

so let’s get started then.
