The holy schedule called for 8km tempo this weekend. We decided to leave it to Sunday and took it easy on Saturday- which wasn’t exactly restful as we spent most of the day walking around Amsterdam. We slept in Sunday as I’ve been feeling really tired the last few days. I wasn’t looking forward to the 8km but there was no quitting.
We ran the Green Route, which works out nicely at 8km. It was very humid and warm but on the upside we had very cool breezes which were refreshing. My right ankle is still not right. I’ve been told that I overpronate alot with my right leg and actually underpronate with the left leg. My ankles also has a very big range of motion which makes me a little more vulnerable than average to soreness and pain there. I’ve been running mainly on my GEL KAYANO’s but I’m guessing that my right leg may need more motion control. I’ve got a pair of GEL 3000’s also but the right shoe tends to rub my right ankle, it may be how I move with that leg as my left foot feels fine with them. But with this soreness persisting I think I need to give them another try-at least wearing them on a few long runs. The 3000 is much more supportive and stiff shoe, it’s not as cosy as the KAYANO but what feels nice and what I need may be two different things.
The ankle is also reacting to the increase in mileage. This week is fairly demanding again with an 8km tempo tomorrow, speedwork on Thursday and a monster 19km run on Saturday in Ireland which will an experience. But when I look at the schedule nearly all the look tough now. We are on week 10 of 24 so not doing too badly. This will be our West Cork Route. Theses are all really small roads so I’m sure we’ll be fine, it’s a bit more hills than we’re used to but that will ok too as long as we take our time.
Marathon prep will take a back seat and it will be straight into wedding stuff, which there is plenty of. We got our invitations at the weekend so it’s all getting very real now
That’s it for now:

That is a Very good run! Excellent pace.
Sorry to hear about the ankle. The one foot overpronating and the other underpronating sounds like a shoe-challenge.
Hope the increased mileage does not hurt too much.
Have a great run in Ireland! Looking forward to the report
