Running Books
I’ve read a few running books lately and I’d though I’d post all the books I read on running so far:
Here we go:
The Complete book of Running for women by Claire Kowalchik
The Marathon and Half Marathon-The Beginner’s Guide by Marnie Caron
The Extra Mile by Pam Reed
My Story by Sonia O’ Sullivan
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner by Adam Sillitoe
Daniels’ Running Formula by Jack Daniels
What I talk about when I talk about running by Haruki Murakami
De Koerier die Nergens bij Hoort by Ron Teunisse
De mens als Duurloper by Jan & Hans Knippenburg
The last one, De Mens als Duurloper is a big book. It’s big in scope, topic, breath and dept- it’s got everything. Most of all it has what many running books lack- a point of view on what it’s all for. It’s my favorite book.
Lopen is geen sport, maar en manier van reizen, waarbij geest en lichaam zich voortdurend verplaatsen. Lopen is daarom kunst en geen middel ter bestrijding van welvaartskwaaltjes.
Running is not a sport, but a manner of travelling where mind and body are constantly in motion. Running is therefore art and not an antidote to the maladies of modern society.
Any suggestions on great books on sport would be welcome!
